4. 1. 1 Understanding and loving students
Psychology shows that love is a widespread psychological need for people. If students often feel their teachers love them, they will stimulate healthy emotions, generate enthusiasm and take interest in learning. A case in point is that one of the students we have taught in a school classroom left a message to us. For example: During the junior school, my English is not very satisfactory and I just got low scores each examination. It has never been authorized by any of the English teacher, so I have abandoned the English learning for a quite while. But since entering this school, for your tolerance and patience, My English improves a lot. I have gradually created the interest in learning English. I will try harder [3].
Having read this message, we find that understanding and loving students can help them improve the efficiency in learning. Therefore, basically we don’t blame students, but stick to this method.
4. 1. 2 Learning about students’ views and suggestions
Teaching is the result of interaction between teachers and students. Both of them provide information for each other. The output of teachers is the input of students. Students accept and store information by means of perception, understanding, summarizing and memory. Students’ feedback, as an output, is inputted to the teacher and other students. The teaching activity is to promote these exchanges, which become more meaningful. Therefore, teachers must understand what students want and need, and their difficulties in order to continue helping them understand the new content. This can stimulate students’ enthusiasm in learning. Meanwhile, the teacher also gets close to the feelings of students, which will have a positive effect on teaching.
4. 1. 3 Making students have a sense of achievement
Everyone is keen to have a sense of achievement. Once students have a sense of their own success, they will have immense energy and the passion to be at a higher level. This enables students to listen, speak, read and write. On the other hand, students can feel successful only if they can understand, speak and write English, with their own wishes and aspirations of the communicative English. This achievement will further inspire and promote their interest in learning.
4. 1. 4 Encouraging students to enhance the learning confidence
Confidence is the source of learning and the catalyst for improving teaching effect. Commended in response to a question and praised for the excellent work, students will get joyful and satisfied in psychology. This satisfaction will increase the study confidence. Traditionally, the comments are on correcting the general content, structure, language and other aspects of mistakes, or it simply comments by scores and grade sign. Thus, the students’ feeling is simple. It is lack of individual and positive meaning. We have corrected such a composition during the teaching practice. For example: I have a neighbor who has a daughter. The girl was wild and often rolled in the ground. When her mother criticized her, the girl used to blurt out abusive words. The mother was very angry. Some friendly neighbor gave the mother some recommendation but they didn’t work. The mother was despaired until she bought her a white dress. From then on the girl transformed herself both in language and behaviors. It is the white dress that transforms the girl completely. In fact there is a white dress hidden in every man’s mind. Only we have misplaced it or forgotten it. If we can often remind ourselves of the existence of the white dress, surely we will have a different life. After checking it, we left the comments. We said, “We really enjoy correcting your writing. The words can give people epiphany. It would be much better if you could have avoided the language mistakes in your writing.” [4]
This will play a positive role in encouragement and the progressive integration of the emotional education.
4. 2 Rich classroom activities and different teaching methods
A qualified teacher should not only have professional knowledge and the sincere love for the education and students, but also have good language skills and teaching abilities. Only by this can teachers have high emotions and plunge into the teaching, which moves and infects their students, so students will learn with vacation, and form a stable and strong interest in learning English. They can have knowledge of listening, reading, writing abilities by themselves. Anyone who does not love his profession won’t love his students. We can imagine how is the work in creating a relaxed and harmonious learning environment when a teacher is lack of strong and professional quality.
Humor is the art of words. It can make complicated things simple. The humor in the classroom and on the use of language will not only enable students to grasp the main point of knowledge better, but also enable them to have the initiative to learn more. For example, lectures, with some useful interesting stories, can improve students’ interest in learning and make classroom atmosphere active [5].
