2  Functions of enthusiasm
We cannot deny the function of enthusiasm in English teaching, because teachers can make use of it, guide students to transform into a stable learning motivation, to enable them to establish a strong self-confidence, overcome difficulties in forming the will, willing to work with others, form a harmonious, healthy and progressive character.
2. 1 Fostering good teacher-student relationship
The teaching practice proves that some students are often partial to some discipline because they think the teacher is affable, and willing to understand and care about them, so they are very glad to have this teacher’s class. As a result, the students’ mood will surge upward, and they accept the knowledge quickly, with study solid. Simultaneously, the psychological research indicates that the relaxed and happy atmosphere in learning can make students in good mood to learn, think, and get knowledge. It is advantageous to raise students’ study enthusiasm. The relaxed key point is to enable the students to be friendly to the teacher. In the classroom, the teacher and the students are also the friends to exchange the emotions and the thought. This kind of exchange directly affects students’ cognition activity, and restricts students’ emotions and their will. Therefore, the teacher takes the emotional investment greatly and arouses students’ sympathetic chord by the sincere compassion. Through their own words and deeds, and the expression, the teacher constantly gives the students some information such as kindness, encouragement, trust, respect. Thus, it causes the students to be in the relaxed and happy study atmosphere to get study assignments confidently.
2. 2 Following teenagers’ characteristics of psychological development
It is said to be a dialectical way of knowing the truth and understanding objective reality from direct views to abstract thoughts and then to the practice. Students’ study is the organic unification of cognition process of “feeling- thought-creation” and intention activity of “interest-affection-will”. The vivid visual teaching method is the only way for students to understand the process. The interesting teaching method seizes the understanding process of “vision- abstract-practice” and creates an atmosphere to lead to teaching by aids and other visual means. Then, it uses the simple language for conveying knowledge to complete the transition from the vision to the abstract. The next one is to complete the process of abstract thinking into practice in the form of performance or the replacement of roles. This is in line with the cognitive rules.
2. 3 Contributing to the development of the intelligence
The learning effect is the junction of intelligence and non-intelligence. The intelligence is the awareness campaigns such as perception, memory, thought. Non-intelligence means motivation, emotion, will, the quality of enthusiasm in personality psychology. Enthusiasm is the most important aspect of non-intelligence, and whether the education, as an external force, has a good effect on the students or not is based on the terms of the students themselves. When students form the demand of learning a language in the psychology, this kind of demand can help students memorize and master the knowledge of what they have learned efficiently. Once there is enthusiasm to learn, it is more likely to achieve the purpose of study.

3  Factors influencing enthusiasm
3. 1 Teachers’ spirits and attitude
In class, teachers’ emotions and feelings will directly affect the student, which in turn affects the classroom atmosphere. If teachers are unable to stabilize their emotions, but bring their joys and sorrows into the classroom, showing unable to concentrate, the negative sentiment will make students not focus on their thinking. In the end, students will appear to be worn down and preoccupied. We can imagine how bad such kind of teaching is!
The teachers’ attitude can be divided into two kinds, the attitude towards the work and the attitude to the students. Some teachers work for a very negative attitude, and even get tired of the occupation. If teachers turn to lose confidence and interest in the courses that are taught, so students are studying with depression and learning with boring atmosphere. Generally results are not ideal. Meanwhile, if teachers treat students with the negative attitude, it will definitely affect students’ confidence and emotional learning. For example: Occasionally making errors in the process of learning a foreign language, the students will not be guided correctly, so the students are gradually unwilling to have the class, and have the suspect attitude to the teacher. Thus, teachers should pay more attention to their attitude.
3. 2 Teachers’ method
The teacher is the classroom instruction organizer and the manager. The classroom organization manages the form directly to affect students’ mood and the classroom atmosphere. Being too loose to students lets them feel that it is all right whether there is a teacher or not and they have the low expectation to the English class. They will put the interest and the energy into other school work.
