非英语专业大学生口语学习现状分析及其教学策略(英文)

The routine ways of oral English teaching are: (1) classroom report, (2) warm-up exercises, (3) scenes dialogue, (4) role-playing, (5) talking about the picture or film or other media, (6) topic discussion, (7) thematic debate.
However, according to my investigation results and combining with my self-experience of English studying, I suggest that English songs are a useful tool to teach oral English. Nowadays, more and more students are very fond of English songs, and almost everyone of them can sing one or more English songs, maybe it just a kind of fashion, but we can not deny that they are absorbing by it. To learn an English song, one must not only notice the change of the rhythm, but also wants to pay attention to the pronunciation, namely, when you sing an English song, you should pronounce the vowels fully, while they pronounce the consonants briefly and powerfully. Only in the former condition can you protract the sound. In fact, the process of learning to sing an English song is a process of active imitation. Firstly, in the hint of the music time, they give a notice and memorize the stress and non-stress syllables, in addition, one needs a period to learn a song, he must first listen to repeatedly the original singer’s pronunciation, then he will sing following the original singer in spite of himself, imitate it actively and repeatedly, until he can sing without the lyric. Several imitations like this, the learner will find that his interest in English increases, so did his confidence in mastering the language. What’s more, in these subconscious excesses, learners can foster their language feeling and train their intonation; all of these are in favor of their English learning [10].

So we can choose some English songs with the melody the students like, which can not only arouse students’ interest, but also can make them exercise English unconsciously. In this way they can correct their pronunciation and cultivate the language feeling, which can improve their oral English accordingly.
3. 3 Making full use of modern means of teaching                                                                                                                                        

Due to the fact the students don’t live in the English environment, they learn English not for the purpose of communication. Chances are rare for them to speak to foreigners and use it after class, let alone go aboard for immigration, all of these decreases their learning drive. Some of them even believe that practicing oral English is nothing but waste of time. What’s more, their classes are relatively large, the levels of students are also uneven, and therefore it is hard to organize oral English activities.
Modern teaching methods help to improve the teaching quality of spoken English teaching in University. Therefore, we should promote it actively and use it reasonably.
3. 3. 1 Optimizing methods of teaching to set up a true learning environment
In the age of science and technology, the traditional chalk plus blackboard teaching mode is stiff and boring. The application of multimedium technology in teaching gives an infinite world for learners. The modern multimedium technology can not only show the content more vividly, what’s more, it can give a truer language environment for students to feel the foreign cultures and language, which mainly adjusts their language comprehension and language input, then develops their oral English skill unconsciously. The teachers can use flash, cartoon and many other forms to show the content. In this process, the students can not only absorb new sentences, but also arouse their interest. At the same time, the usages of the new mode of teaching, take internet for example, enables both teachers and students to contact more fresh information and many new expressions. For instance, previously, when people meet each other, what they usually say is “how do you do?” But with the development of time, the present young bloods prefer to some timely expression, such as “Are you online today?” or “Do you have a pet?” Of course, in the process of exercising, teachers should remind students to notice the difference between Chinese culture and the western culture which reflect from the English expressions, correct their mistakes timely, and lead them to learn appropriate pragmatic meaning and understand the culture diversity.  转贴于 酷文网-论文下载中心 http://www.coolwen.net
