The percentages of choosing listening are not varied much between extroverts and introverts. More introverted students choose reading and writing than extroverted students. When for the weak part, 42% of extroverted students think they are weak at reading, and 56% of the introverted students believe speaking is their weak part. In general, introverted students are more planed than extroverted students in English learning, and they are more persistent in carrying out plans than extroverted students. Variables Population Bellow 60 60-69 70-79 80 or above
extroversion 35 2 (6%) 11 (31%) 21 (60%) 1 (3%)
introversion 25 4 (16%) 7 (28%) 12 (48%) 2 (8%)
The table 3.4 shows that students of extroversion and introversion are varied in their scores in different levels. We could see the number of extroverted and introverted students is different in each level of scores. There are 4 introverted students whose scores were bellow 60, while 2 of 35 extroverted students’ scores were bellow 60. In the level of 60-69, the number of extroverted students and introverted students had no much difference. More extroverted students got scores of 70-79 than introverted students. However, in the scores of 80 or above, the number of introverted students was more than that of extroverted students.
Among the investigated 60 business English majors, 12 of them attended BEC examinations: 3 took the BEC Higher and 9 took the BEC Vantage. Because items of both BEC Higher and BEC Vantage include the following four parts: reading, writing, listening and speaking, results are analyzed together despite of the degrees of both examinations are not the same. The four levels to describe each part are exceptional, good, borderline and weak. Of the 12 students, 7 are of extroversion, and 5 are of introversion; only 4 passed the examination (1 passed the BEC Higher, 3 BEC Vantage). Of the four students, 2 are of extroversion and 2 are of introversion. It’s obvious that the number of each group who passed the examination has no difference. So the author put more emphasize on the whole of the 12 students’ results of each part. The analyzed results of their performance in BEC examinations are in the following table 3.5.
Table 3.5 The results of BEC examinations
