英语幽默的语用研究(英文)

Conclusion
As is mentioned above, in our daily life, humor not only can provide amusement and eliminate embarrassment, but also can defend oneself in some particular situation, and give cogency criticism when it is necessary. What’s more, it can also bring some aesthetic feelings. As a matter of fact, more and more people have realized the power of humor and prefer to be a humorous. To be a humorous person, especially in today’s intercultural communication, we should both learn how to create personal humor and also learn how to interpret humor. From the analysis above, we know that the pragmatics is a good way to understand humor more effectively. In this paper the author attempts to find out how humorous effects are produces from pragmatic view, employing many pragmatically theories such as relevant theory, speech act, politeness theory and so on. The author used a great number of examples to make the interpretation more clearly. Then in this paper, the author also well mentioned the language features and cultural features of the English humor as well as the pragmatic functions of the English humor by concerning the cultural elements and rhetorical devices. I hope it would be helpful for English humor appreciation and cross-cultural communication.
