The interpreter should abide by the norms of the professional ethics for the interpreter, for example, to keep secret, to remain neutral, and to interpret accurately. The interpreter should not comment on the speaker, or accept the interpreting task which is beyond his /her ability even if it is well paid. Once you accept the task, you should perform with good professional, and complete the jobsuccessfully.
3. 2 The preparative work of the interpretation
Many people think that the interpretation is “gold collar” industry. However, in order to guarantee the smooth progress of the interpretation, the interpreter generally begin the orderly preparation work on that date when they receive the task of interpretation. Because “there is no meeting for interpreters is unnecessary preparation.” [10]
Successful interpreting largely depends on the interpreter's extensive and adequate preparation for it. The interpreter is expected to build up his conference-related terminological and thematic knowledge, and take every opportunity possible to know the speakers and his audience. In addition, the interpreter is supposed to get mentally prepared for the coming interpreting assignment, and make that he/she knows how to operate the interpreting equipment as well.
3.2.1 Term preparation
Interpreting is characterized by “uncertainty”, “instantaneity”, “presence” and “oralness”. Interpretation requests the interpreter complete the transformation of meaning language timely. Sometimes they find their knowledge of the technical terminology and proper noun is lack, much less them in interpretation, these strange term words often made up barrier of the interpreter’s unable span, lead to the interpretation is failure. So, interpreter should collect and collate the technical terminology and proper noun that will concern in interpretation, and find meanings in other work language. These had remembered meaning can clear away nervous emotion of the interpreter before the translation or in the interpretation, which make interpreter confidence.
In the process of the interpretation, the interpreter’s the biggest problem is he /she does not understand knowledge of subject, so, interpreter should not only prepare the technical terminology and proper noun, but also should prepare the professional knowledge.
3.2.2 Preparation of the thematic knowledge
Interpreter who understands the theme of the interpreting activity is the successful key to the work of the interpretation. An interpreter will undertake countless times work of the interpretation in his/she life, these work’s contents are very extensive, and almost refer to all the areas of the human social life. But a specific activity of the interpretation, no matter what it is international meetings, press conference, liturgy celebration or negotiations, they all have a clear theme. Interpreter must have deep knowledge of this area if he wants to understand the saying of the speaker. In practice, if interpreter don’t understand the content of speech of the source language, to the basic principle of the discussed problem is unfamiliar, frequently, it can lead to translation low quality or interpretation fail.
The interpreters can adopt a variety of ways to prepare the thematic knowledge of the interpretation, usually, they can take it from the organizations or parties, if the information not enough, you can search through online.
A good interpreter should have good living habits, in the normal if he /she had adequate preparation, in his/she work, he /she will had a good psychological preparation.
3.2.3 Psychological preparation
The psychological preparations of the interpreter mainly have following ways.
Firstly, after receiving interpretation task, the interpreter should set a reasonable period of time, and ensure that he/she has adequate time for reading the relative information. For ensure interpreter energetic in work, the interpreter should have sufficient time for sleep and rest, to avoid entering the state with tired spirit.
Secondly, before accepting the interpretation task, interpreter should have a correct evaluation to their own ability. For themselves is not qualified to the task of the interpretation, couldn’t rushed accept for the reason of the bicker, competition and remuneration etc. If the interpreter accept the task, he/she must be treating seriously and have adequate preparation, and couldn’t temporize for too busy or unsatisfactory recompense. After the adequate preparation, interpreter should fill with confidence, couldn’t come into doubt to our own ability because of big scene, high level, and more people or had coterie in spot. If the interpreter has this thinking, which could lead to the interpretation fail.
Thirdly, the interpreters should pay attention to their bodies and diet, as to avoid affecting work for falling sick, and according to the workplace climate, terrain, clientele and the different occasions, interpreter should choose their appropriate clothing and hairstyle.
